Welcome to our Sims 4 Career List guide. There are a lot of choices of careers for your Sims that you can take when starting out, and you might wonder what career choice you would like for your Sim. In this page we’ll be discussing the different ones available in the base game, and the ones from expansion packs as well. You’ll find out what they do, and which sub careers they can branch out to.
You can look at the different listings available through the computer or through your phone. The full time careers are your Sim’s main source of income when starting out with their lives, you need to help them to advance in their career so they can earn more money.
This covers the careers that you can choose from the game. Take note that there are more things in-depth for each career so we’ll do our best to provide each career options in detail through their respective pages. We hope that you’ll be able provide your Sims with good careers that will help them with their daily lives!
What careers are available in the Sims 4?
What are the different Career choices that you can get in the Sims 4? Based on the version of the game that you have, you can gain access to the base careers which are: Astronaut, Athlete, Business, Criminal, Culinary, Entertainer, Painter, Secret Agent, Style Influencer, Tech Guru, and Writer. Freelancer was added in an update as well. The other expansions then provided Actor/Actress, Conservationist, Critic, Detective, Doctor, Gardener, Military, Politician, Scientist, Scout, and Social Media.

What are career branches?
With so many choices available, you might be wondering what the Careers can provide. Each career may or may not have sub branches as well that you can diverge into and they can provide different bonuses. Take note that once you have chosen a specific branch, you cannot switch into the other unless you reload the game if you haven’t saved it yet. Careers can be switched, but sub branches of one career are locked.

Take note that some careers can only be obtained from certain game expansions, therefore they have been listed here. | Civil Designer | As a Civil Designer, get involved in planning and designing solutions to all kinds of environmental problems, and chat to your fellow Sims about how to make their world a better place to live. | Green Technician and Civic Planner |
| Conservationist | You've watched every nature documentary out there, and you know just how much the planet is in danger. From educating the public to performing research expeditions, you want to truly make a difference. | Critic (City Living Expansion) | Everyone has an opinion. But not everyone is paid to have it! Sims who feel they have superior judgment can enter the Critic Career. | Detective (Get to Work Expansion) | Do you want to be the type of cop who's never really off-duty? If so, this job's for you and we've got the rewards to support that unhealthy lifestyle! Unlock outfits like your Police Uniform to wear as pajamas. Teach your teen a valuable lesson for that C+ by dressing them in Prisoner Coveralls and transforming their bedroom into a virtual jail cell complete with Prison Bar Walls and a decorative Security Camera. As a bonus, you can keep an eye on them with your very own One-Way Mirror. | None |

| Freelancer | Be your own boss! Set your own work schedule! Sounds good, right? If you're both self-disciplined and determined, a career as a freelancer may be the right path for you. | Gardener (Seasons Expansion) | You've always had a green thumb, but now you think you can earn some green with it. You'll start by doing a lot of planting and gardening, but keep at it, and you can find success in the science, or art, in doing so. | Botanist and Floral Designer |
